Close collaboration and shared training programmes with our supply chain are central to Ashe’s health and safety approach. Our priority is always people’s safety.
We make sure we protect the general public as we work on site, safeguard children and young people in education environments, and look after the safety, health and wellbeing of our teams.
Regular visits to our live sites by our compliance and business support managers lead to smart yet simple ways of improving how we work. Initiatives are proposed to our Safety Leadership Team, then trialled and implemented if shown to drive the right behaviours.
Our safety standards are also scrutinised through regular independent assessments of our processes and performance. We are committed to sustaining our industry accreditations for health and safety management in line with our clients’ expectations.
Recent innovations in safety management include using technology to enable site-specific health and safety training to take place offsite. This means teams are briefed comprehensively before coming to the site and can start work straightaway without any compromise on safety.
Another simple idea we’ve implemented at every site is the numbering of high viz jackets. Site teams sign-in and each person is allocated a jacket with a number, enabling members of the public or children in schools to identify individuals if required.
Initiatives such as these have led to Ashe winning several ‘Safety Culture Awards’ and being commended for overcoming many logistical challenges in live environments, most notably in schools where the protection of children is paramount.
